The beautiful Beth Chatto Gardens are situated just 5 miles from Weeley Crematorium and Colchester Cemetery and Crematorium, in a tranquil, picturesque setting, ideally suited for your wake.

Our experienced event organisers at the Gardens will work hard to ensure you can concentrate on what’s important during a difficult time.

We serve carefully prepared, locally sourced and seasonal food in either our award-winning restaurant room, overlooking the world famous Gravel Garden, or in our specially built lodge which looks out over the serene Water Garden.

Ample free parking is available on site and we are currently in the process of creating a special memorial garden, which we hope to have ready very soon – please ask for details.

About Beth Chatto Gardens:
Beth Chatto designed her gardens to be a haven: a place of peace and meditation. She established it in the 1960s on land that was inhospitable to many plants. Working closely with her husband and her team, she overcame the challenges to create a beautiful garden that now covers around 7 acres and is open to the public.

Her gardens and nursery are now one of the nation’s favourites and have influenced and inspired a generation of gardeners. They continue to grow and develop with dedicated and knowledgeable staff, many of whom learnt their trade working alongside Beth Chatto.
