Capron House

Capron House is a warm and welcoming exclusive-use venue perfect to celebrate the life of a loved one. It’s central location and three newly refurbished light airy rooms leading out onto a walled garden provide a versatile space for a funeral reception.

With so much to organise following the loss of a loved one, our Cowdray Events team are on hand to help plan the event.

Capron House is part of Cowdray, a 16,500-acre family-owned estate centred around Midhurst, West Sussex. The venue is in the centre of Midhurst, a pretty market town in the heart of the South Downs National Park. The grand front porch leads into an impressive entrance hall with a carved staircase, huge stained-glass window and chandelier above.

From the entrance, guests walk into the Cowdray Room, the largest of the three rooms, which accommodates up to 80 people. There are also two smaller rooms – the Garden and the Pearson Room – which can be used for smaller funeral receptions.

From here, there is direct access onto a pretty, walled garden. The garden is large enough for a marquee or as an additional seating area for guests or for children to enjoy.

The exclusive-use venue has a traditional charm and there is the option to hire Capron for a half a day or a full day. There is plenty of parking nearby for guests either in a private car park or in the main town car park (pay and display) opposite the building.

Whether a small buffet or a sit-down meal is required, our highly-regarded preferred caterers can create a bespoke menu to suit nearly all requirements and budgets. Talented local florists are also on hand if needed.

For guests who have travelled from further afield, the estate offers a range of accommodation options. These include four holiday cottages which sleep 13, and seven ensuite rooms sleeping 16 at the newly refurbished Golf Lodge. These can be booked individually with breakfast included. The venue’s central location means that there is plenty of accommodation and restaurants within easy walking distance.
