Fort Nelson offers a private and tranquil venue for funeral receptions, located less than two miles from Portchester Crematorium on Portsdown Hill. Receptions are held in The Redan, formerly part of the Officers’ Mess. Built as part of the Victorian defences of Portsmouth, Fort Nelson has strong military links and is now home to the Royal Armouries’ national collection of artillery. The historic setting provides a distinctive yet peaceful backdrop for families and their guests.

The Redan can accommodate up to 80 people and provides a comfortable, private space for a buffet lunch or afternoon tea. A range of catering options and refreshments can be arranged, with a private bar also available for guests.
