Arranging the post funeral
reception/wake
After the burial or cremation most people like to spend time with family and friends and will host a reception/wake, the event can be as simple or lavish as you like, it is completely your choice.
Will you require catering and a licensed bar?
Most venues provide a wide range of catering options for these events and will normally be flexible in creating a menu to suit your individual tastes. Another important factor to consider is accommodation for relatives travelling a long way, many venues holding the reception will have accommodation and may be able to offer you a better rate for friends and family.
At Celebrate Your Loved One we can recommend venues that match all of your requirements and have the staff and facilities to ensure a relaxed and dignified time for you and your guests attending the event.
Always ask either the funeral director, a family member or friend to make an announcement letting people know where and when the event is taking place.
Funerals are now less rigid and becoming more personalised
You may wish to bring photographs, a favourite CD of the deceased or a memorial DVD to play in the background. An open microphone session is also popular where loved ones can share memories or simply say a few words. The event is a send-off for your loved one, and feel free to include whatever feels right for you and your family.
